Halmahera, formerly known as Jailolo, is the biggest island in the Maluku Islands. Halmahera is part of the North Maluku Province, which geographically is located at Eastern part of Indonesia. Geologically, Halmahera is considered a volcanic island even though its activities does not occur evenly in all of its area. Areas considered volcanically active takes place at the Northern part of Halmahera Island.
In the past years, Halmahera has been examined as one of the biggest gold resources in Indonesia. It’s considered substantial not only in term of the volume, but also for its grade.
